About:
Liz is a British costume designer and assistant costume designer for film and television. Her 15 years’ international experience include work for major Hollywood studio productions, independent film, period drama, animation and bespoke projects.
Liz is a frequent collaborator of and first assistant to award-winning costume designer Mayes C. She has worked with designer, director and across departments from first concepts through to filming, and has been directly responsible for the production of wardrobe for actors such as Scarlett Johansson, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Ruth Negga and Sam Rockwell. She has helped oversee the creative work of costume teams in more than ten countries and particularly enjoys exploring the potential of both cutting-edge and traditional materials and techniques with talented artisans in the department.
An alumna of Edinburgh College of Art (BAHons), Liz began her career joining Sandy Powell’s OSCAR-winning wardrobe team for THE YOUNG VICTORIA (as a finalist for the BBC Vision Design Awards). Mentored primarily by costume designer Maggie Chappelhow, she then worked from trainee to supervisor on BBC and ITV television dramas, such as the Raindance Award-winning FIVE DAUGHTERS.
Liz is a member of the Costume Designers’ Guild (I.A.T.S.E. Local 892). She speaks English and Italian.
